Introduction
The widespread growth of private universities in the country has generated some confusion in the minds of the conscious people as to whether these universities can conform to the fundamental principles of imparting realistic education of a standard university. Contrary to the philosophy of the average private universities in the country, however, the prime motto of the Metropolitan University is to provide its students more coaching based teaching and to ensure close interaction between the teachers and the students in order to help impart maximum realistic education. In essence, at MU we attempt to do fine-tuning the tones of our students so that they can learn how to learn; we consciously prefer practice to theory. The MU has been established as a unique institution for those who want to have quality university education of the modern age at an affordable cost.

Inception
With the approval of the Ministry of Education, under the Private University Act of 1992 and its amendment in 1998, the Metropolitan University (MU) came into being on 3rd May 2003. Dr. Toufique Rahman Chowdhury, a promising enterpreneur, and an educationist of the country engineered the idea of floating the Metropolitan University with the direct participation and assistance of a few of his close friends, acquaintances, and associates with the main objective of promoting modern education, particularly, higher and advance education in the various spheres of learning in order to help build up an educated nation of our own along with such nations all over the world - fully realizing that such an enterprise might add only a mite to the vast field of higher education.

This is a social commitment of Metropolitan University to the nations for promoting better education to meet the changing needs of the globe in the 21st century. The Metropolitan University is an accumulation of core educationists of the country to help build up a future educated nation of Bangladesh and of other countries. The University will serve the citizens of the country and of other countries through its instructional, research and outreach programs and prepare them to respond to the challenges of a global economy successfully. In the delivery of educational programs on campus and beyond, the university will draw heavily upon the new instructional and outreach technologies available in the emerging information age.

Mission

The Metropolitan University is working to make properly educated, technologically efficient, highly productive class citizens to attain glorious careers at home and abroad, to enjoy enriched lives, and to make direct contribution to all people of the world.

We believe that our mission includes providing a world class student centered learning environment, where students would learn how to learn and would ultimately tern out as learned people. We are always trying to ensure availability of professionally sound faculty members - dedicated to students’ success. We are also continuing support to education as a force of change and development, The University has been established to provide a high quality of education to meet the demands of the modern age. Metropolitan University is accredited by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and approved by the Ministry of Education, Government of Bangladesh.

An environment has already been provided to the faculty members, they can further develop their teaching skills and contribute to the innovation and discovery of new ideas and knowledge by developing and using their research skills.
