
Teachers, staff and students of the Metropolitan University held a mourners meeting on 02 March 2009 to identify with the bereaved families of the brutally killed military officers in the recent BDR mutiny at Pilkhana in Dhaka. The meeting started under the chairmanship of Dr. Toufique R. Chowdhury, Chairman, Board of Governors. Dr. Chowdhury in his speech termed the killing at BDR headquarters a barbarous act and hoped that the real culprits behind this heinous act would be detected and duly punished. Among others, Khandkar Mahmudur Rahman, Dean, School Of Business, and Registrar,
Dr. Taher Billal Khalifa, Head of the Department of Business Administration, Lukman Ahmed Chowdhury, Senior Executive Officer, Tarek Mahmud, Lecturer, Department of Law and Justice and two students from Law and Justice Department and Business Administration Department respectively namely; Safrin Chowdhury (3rd year, BBA) and Abed Abdullah Rabbani ( 4th year, LLB) made speeches at the occasion. The speakers denounced the incident in strong terms and demanded a fair trial of this murderous act. At the end of the meeting Ahsan Habib, Lecturer, Department of Information and Communication Technology, conducted a prayer wishing salvation of the departed souls of the killed military officer in the mutiny.
