27 July, Sunday, marks the 19th death anniversary of Professor M. Habibur Rahman, former Vice-Chancellor of Metropolitan University and a distinguished academician.
On this solemn occasion, the Metropolitan University family paid deep respect in remembrance of his contributions and legacy.
On the occasion of his death anniversary, Professor M. Habibur Rahman’s life and contributions were highlighted by Metropolitan University’s Chairman Emeritus, Dr. Toufique Rahman Chowdhury, and the Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Tanvir M.O. Rahman Chowdhury.
Dr. Toufique Rahman Chowdhury said, “Professor Habibur Rahman was a profound academic, a visionary Vice-Chancellor. He was also a gifted writer, sociologist, and researcher. His contributions to education and society are immeasurable. In particular, from the very beginning of Metropolitan University, he invested his intellect and efforts to lay the foundation for its strong establishment. We remember his contributions with deep respect.”
It is worth mentioning that the eminent academic Professor M. Habibur Rahman was born in 1942 in Nabiganj Upazila of Habiganj district. In 1997, he assumed the role of Vice-Chancellor at Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST).
After retiring from SUST in 2002, he took on the position of Vice-Chancellor at Metropolitan University, a role he held until his passing.
